What is Screambox?

Screambox is a movie and entertainment channel designed and built to give addicts and diehard fanatics of horror entertainment the ultimate destination for discovering new content and engaging in discussion with likeminded fans and creators. In addition to offering a large collection of curated horror films and TV episodes, Screambox will deliver an immersive experience including behind-the-scenes features, documentaries, interviews and trailers. As a subscriber you can watch all of the Screambox movies and programs, uncut, without any advertising, as much as you want on your tablet, PC, connected TVs, set-top-boxes and game consoles.

How can I become a Screambox member?

To become a Screambox member, click on the Try for Free button in the top right corner of any page. First create a Screambox account which requires you to enter a valid email and password. You also have the option of connecting with your Facebook account. Make sure you are actively logged into Facebook on the web browser you are using to access Then you can start a free trial of our service by entering your name and valid form of payment. You will not be billed until you have completed your free trial and you may cancel your subscription any time.

Is it legal to watch video here?

Screambox is your completely legal home for horror programming via the internet. We work with a range of producers and content providers and secure licensing rights to provide our community with the broadest and deepest range of horror content from around the world.

Why is Screambox only for people who are 18 years and older?

Much of the content featured on Screambox is intended for mature audiences and thus we require our members to be at least 18 years of age.

Why does it tell me I need to become a Screambox member to watch feature films and TV shows?

Screambox offers a free trial period where members can experience the service before they are billed. Screambox is a subscription video on demand service and we use the subscription fees to continually improved our service and bring more great movies and TV series onto the platform.

How do I log into Screambox?

From any page on the website click on Sign In located at the upper right hand corner. You may sign in using the email address and password associated with your Screambox account. You may also use the Facebook sign in option, you must be logged into Facebook in the same browser you are using to access the website.

For mobile applications, upon selecting to play any movie, you will be prompted to enter your Screambox email and password. If you created your account using your Facebook credentials, you will use the associated Facebook email address.

How many Screambox accounts can I link to Facebook?

You can only link one Screambox account to one Facebook account.

Screambox system requirements:

To watch movies on Screambox you will need a computer or supported internet-connected device in addition to a Screambox membership.

For viewing on a PC or Mac you will need:

  • Microsoft Windows XP SP2 or above, Macintosh OX X 10.5 “Leopard” or above, or Linux.
  • Internet Explore 8.0 and later, Firefox 18.0 and later, Safari 5.0 or above or Chrome. We recommend installing the latest version of your web browser for optimal playback experience. Find the latest versions:

For viewing on your tablet or smartphone’s mobile web browser you will need:

  • A high-speed wireless data connection over WiFi, 4G or 3G cellular.
  • iOS 5.0 and later, Android 4.0 “Ice Cream Sandwich” and later, Windows 8 and later and Windows Phone 7 and later.
  • For Android devices we recommend installing a 3rd party media player such as MX Player, Mobo Player and VLC Player. When playing back on a mobile browser such as Chrome, Firefox or Android browser you will be given the option at time of play to use the installed 3rd party player for playback of the desired video.

In addition, we recommend a downstream bandwidth of at least 1.5 Mbps for Standard Definition (SD) videos and 3.0 Mbps for High Definition (HD) videos. You can verify your downstream bandwidth here.

How do I use my Queue/Favorites?

Your Queue allows you to create a list of videos that you would like to come back and watch at a later time.

Your Queue is accessible anywhere on the website by clicking on your user name in the upper right hand corner. Once inside your Queue you may also remove videos by clicking on –Queue in the upper left hand corner of each film image. The downloadable Screambox applications also support the Queue feature and are referred to as Favorites.

How do I remove videos from my Queue/Favorites/Watch List?

You may add or remove videos to your Queue by hovering your mouse over video image and selecting +Queue to add and –Queue to remove. This may also be found beneath the video player after selecting to play a movie or trailer.

For downloadable Screambox applications, upon selecting to play any video you will be given the option to add it to your Favorites. Videos may be removed by clicking in the Favorites area either in the upper right hand corner drop down menu or on the home page.

Videos added or removed on the website or applications will be updated on all your devices.

How do I watch a video?

Members can watch any video by clicking or tapping on the video image. Some of the Screambox applications may require a secondary selection of play button once on the video detail page.

Can I use Screambox outside of the U.S.?

Currently, Screambox may only be accessed by users in the United States. We plan to launch Screambox in new countries as early as 2015 and we would love to hear from interested users that want Screambox. How do I get started with Screambox device applications?

Getting started with Roku

Setting up Screambox on your Roku is fast and easy. Download Screambox from the Channel Store, by following these steps:

  1. Go to your Roku Home Screen by clicking the home button on your remote
  2. Go to the Roku Channel Store
  3. Go to Movies & TV
  4. Scroll down to the black Screambox icon and press OK
  5. Press Add Channel
  6. Last press Go to Channel or navigate to My Channels and select the black Screambox icon

Once the app has been launched, select any movie. Once inside the movie detail page, select Play and you will be prompted to enter your member credentials which are the email and password used to create your account on

Getting started on SamsungTV

Setting up Screambox on your Samsung SmartTV is fast and easy. Download Screambox from the Internet TV section of the TV by following these steps:

  1. Load the Internet@TV application by pressing the Internet@TV button on your remote (or go to Menu > Content View > Internet TV)
  2. Select the Samsung Apps icon in the lower left corner
  3. Scroll down to the Videos section
  4. Find the Screambox application
  5. Select the application and select Download Now

Getting started on iPad

To get access to Screambox on iPad, download the Screambox app from the App Store. From there, launch the Screambox app and enter the email and password used to create your account on

To download the Screambox application in the App Store, follow these steps:

  1. Start at your home screen and tap on the Apple App Store icon
  2. Once inside the App Store, go to search and type in Screambox
  3. Tap the Screambox icon followed by tapping Free and then Install
  4. When prompted, enter your Apple ID and password to complete the download

Once installed, launch the Screambox application and select any movie. Once inside the movie detail page, select Play and you will be prompted to enter your member credentials which are the email and password used to create your account on

Getting started on Android

To watch Screambox videos on Android, visit the Google Play store on your Android tablet and download. From there all you need is your registered email and password to login and start screaming.

To download the Screambox Android tablet app, follow these steps:

  1. From your device’s home screen tap on the Google Play Store icon
  2. Go to search and type in Screambox
  3. Tap on the black Screambox icon
  4. Tap the Install button, then confirm by tapping OK
  5. Then select Open to enter the Screambox app

Can I download videos to my computer?

Screambox is a streaming only service and we do not allow downloading of videos directly onto your computer.

How do I cancel my Screambox membership?

To cancel your Screambox membership click on your name in the upper right hand corner of the website. Then click on Account and under Subscription you will have the option to cancel your subscription.

Why aren’t my signup attempts working?

Instant fear is just around the corner, here are some reasons that might be preventing you from getting there:

  • Your method of payment is not valid for online recurring transactions; this is common for prepaid or reloadable debit cards.
  • The ZIP code you’re using doesn’t match what the bank has on file.
  • The 3-digit security code (or 4 if you are using American Express) is incorrect.

How do I start a free trial?

Go to and click on the free trial button in the upper right hand corner of the home page. It’s just two easy steps of creating an account and providing a valid form of payment to start your free trial. You will not be billed until after your trial has been completed and you can cancel any time.

How do I update my payment info?

To update your payment information, click on your name on the home page. From there click on Account and then Edit underneath where it says Subscription. This will allow you to update your payment information.

Will my Screambox membership be effective on my other supported devices?

Yes it will! Your Screambox membership entitles you to instant access on any Screambox supported device. All you need to do is login with the email and password used to create your account on

Account Issues

Why can’t I log on to Screambox?

Please try using our password reset tool, see below for instructions. If you are still having trouble logging in please contact us at and provide the steps you have taken and we can reset your password.

I forgot my password, how can I retrieve it?

Go to the upper right-hand corner of any page and click on the Sign In link. Beneath the password field, click on the link that says “Forgot Password?” and enter the email address you used to create your Screambox account. Password reset instructions will be emailed to you immediately. If you do not receive the resent instructions within 24 hours please notify us at

Where can I find the videos I added to my Watchlist?

On click on your name in the upper right hand corner. If you select Queue it will list all of the videos you have added.

On the various applications your Queue can also be called Favorites or Watch List. They are generally located in the drop down menu in the upper right hand column or in the primary navigation bar on the home page.

How do I delete a video from my Queue?

On you can remove videos from your Queue by hovering over the video you wish to remove. You will see a window appear which includes the option “-Queue” at the bottom; when pressed the film will be removed from your Queue.

For downloadable apps, navigate to the video you wish to remove and enter the video description page. There will be an option to remove the video from your “Favorites” or “Watch List.”

How do I cancel my account?

We are sorry to see you go. If you have decided to cancel your subscription, you can do so by performing the following steps:

  • Click on your name in the upper right hand corner of the website and select “Account.”
  • Select “Cancel Subscription” located beneath your payment details information.
  • Click “Yes” when asked “Are you are sure you want to cancel your subscription?”
  • Once completed you will receive an email confirming the cancellation. Please keep that email for your records.

What do I do if a user is harassing me?

We take harassment or abusive behavior seriously and we are committed to maintaining a vigorous yet healthy dialog in the Screambox community. You can report abusive behavior or spam by hovering over the offending users comment, which will bring up an exclamation point icon. Click on the icon and let us know if the post is abuse or spam and we will review for possible removal.

Can I sync my Facebook account with my Screambox account?

Screambox allows you to use your Facebook credentials to create your Screambox account and to log back in to your account. Additionally, if you want to share a specific video with friends on Facebook, Twitter or Google+ you can click on the Share arrow icon to access these account. Screambox will never post to Facebook without your permission.

How do I remove my Facebook account from my Screambox account?

If you wish to unlink your Screambox and Facebook accounts, perform the following steps on

  • Click on your name in the upper right hand corner
  • Select Account
  • Click on the Facebook Disconnect button
  • If you are logged in with your Facebook credentials, you will be logged out. To log back in use the email address associated with your Facebook account and Screambox password to gain access.

How can I unsubscribe from the Screambox newsletter?

You can easily unsubscribe from the Screambox newsletter by scrolling to the bottom of the email and clicking on the “unsubscribe” link.

What can I share when I log into Screambox with Facebook?

Screambox will never post anything to Facebook or any other social network without your permission. By clicking on the Share button at the bottom of the video player you can share any video with your friends on Facebook, Twitter or Google+.

How can I leave a comment?

At Screambox our users have a voice. We believe true horror fans have a lot to say and Screambox is the place to connect with other liked minded fans of the sick and twisted. Beneath each video player there is a comments section where you can tell the community what’s on your mind.

My comment was deleted, why?

The Screambox community, including commenting and forums is primarily a self-governed environment. Screambox does moderate these discussion and we will from time-to-time remove a post if it we believe it is abusive or offensive to other Screambox users. We ask you please report any abusive behavior.

How do I find my username?

Your user name or display name is listed in the upper right hand corner on

How do I edit my profile?

To make changes to your Screambox account profile, click on your name in the upper right hand corner of Select Account and you will have the option to edit your personal information including email, password and display name. You will also be able to update your payment information.

How do I change my profile picture?

If you have linked your Screambox account to your Facebook account your Facebook profile picture will be presented next to your name on The profile picture can only be changed by managing your profile settings on the Facebook website or application. For more information click here.

How come I never received my membership confirmation email?

Upon starting your free trial membership you should immediately receive a welcome email confirming the start of your trial period. If you did not receive this email it could be do to one of the following:

  • Your spam filter inadvertently identified it as spam, please check your spam folder; or
  • You misspelled your email address during account creation, in which case please contact us at and we will reset your email. Please be sure to include your first and last name and your correct email address.

Troubleshooting Video Streaming Issues on

Why are my videos starting and stopping repeatedly?

Our video player adaptively adjusts to your local network conditions to provide the highest quality playback experience possible. Many of our videos are available in full HD which require a broadband internet connection, see system requirements for minimum recommended data speeds.

If you are experiencing reduced video quality with, please try the following:

  • Confirm your data connection speed by going to Click on the Begin Test button and compare your results to our system requirements.
  • Reset your wireless router. Restarting your modem can improve temporary connection problems.
  • Close any other programs that you don’t need open, particularly, bandwidth-intensive applications such watching video, downloading media, online gaming or video calling services. Similarly, if there are other devices on your network running data-intensive applications it could impact the quality of playback.

Stuttering or Pausing:

  • If you are experiencing stuttering while on a wireless connection, try moving your device closer to your wireless router or plug your computer into a hard wired broadband connection.
  • Check to see if you are running into the same video quality problems on a different web browser.
  • Disable hardware acceleration on the Adobe Flash Player by right-clicking anywhere in the video player and selecting “Settings.” Uncheck the “Enable hardware acceleration” option.

Videos Won’t Start At All:

  • Try clearing your browser cache/temporary internet files.
  • In order to effectively connect to our servers, a fast ping speed is necessary. Go to and confirm you are getting a response time of 150ms or lower; anything higher can cause pausing and jittering. - You may need to temporarily disable popup blocking software installed on your computer to complete the test. Allow as a trusted site in your firewall software.

Why can’t I get video to playback on the Chrome browser on my Android device?

In order to playback video using a the Chrome mobile web browser on an Android device, the video player needs to be set to full screen mode. Click on the small box just the right of the elapsed time indicator to enter full screen mode. Once there you will be able to playback the desired video.

Why can’t I get fast forward and rewind video using the Chrome browser on my Android device?

This is a known issue with the Chrome browser running on Android devices. Your options are to install the Screambox Android application from the Google Play store or use an alternate browser such as Firefox or the stock Android browser for video playback.

My Queue/Favorites is not updating on or one of the device apps.

In most cases adding new videos to your Queue should happen within a few minutes. For some of the apps your Queue/Favorites will update after you exit the app and start it back up in a new session.

How do I enable JavaScript and cookies?

What should I do if I am having audio issues?

If you having issues with audio playback issues it could be due to the settings on your computer or device. We recommended you try the following to resolve the problem:

Verify Video Player Settings

  • Verify your web player settings by checking the volume level on the Screambox player, you will see a speaker icon in the lower right hand corner which will indicate your volume level. Make sure audio is not muted or the settings are two low.

Verify System Settings

  • For your computer check your system settings to ensure audio is enabled. For a windows PC, double-click the volume icon in the System Tray and verify that none of the audio settings are muted. On Mac, audio controls can be found in the upper right hand corner of the screen.
  • For tablet applications you can mute or adjust the volume using the physical volume keys on the side of your device, make sure these are at the desired levels.
  • For set-top-box and game console applications use your TV’s remote control to adjust volume up and down.

Try playing audio from another application on your device such as iTunes, Windows Media Player or Quick Time to confirm audio is working for audio files stored locally on your computer. If not, there may be an issue with your computer affecting all audio playback.

On a PC or Mac you can also try quitting or restarting your browser and logging onto again.

What does video resolution mean?

Video resolution is the quality level of the video you are watching. Higher resolution means a better quality viewing experience. High Definition (HD) video performs best with a fast broadband data connection. Resolution on your screen is affected by your local network conditions as well as the quality level the video was originally filmed in.

Why can’t I watch a video in higher resolution?

Many of our videos can be streamed in full 1080P HD quality. Video resolution is in part determined by the resolution level the original program was filmed in. Some of the Screambox videos were filmed at a lower resolution level and are not available in HD resolution.

How can I watch a video in full screen?

On the website and tablet applications click on the expand option in the lower right hand corner of the video player. For some tablet applications double tapping the screen will initiate full screen viewing.

What is simultaneous streaming?

Simultaneous streaming is when more than one device is streaming videos while logged into the same account. The maximum number of simultaneous steams allowed under the terms of your Screambox membership is two.

General Screambox Application Questions

What are my options if I can’t install the Screambox app because my device out of space?

If you can’t install the Screambox applications on your mobile or tablet device because you do not have enough memory, we recommend temporarily uninstalling other applications or moving them to an SD card to free up memory.

Will my Screambox subscription be effective on all of the mobile, TV, set-top-box and game console applications?

Your Screambox membership gives you full and unlimited access to all of the uncut and commercial free horror programming on all Screambox supported devices.

Is all the content available on available on all the device applications?

Better believe it, all videos available on the website will also be available to you anytime, anywhere on Screambox supported devices.

How do I log into the Screambox apps on my mobile device, TV, set-top-box or game console?

Upon entering the application, select play on your desired video and you will be prompted to log in. Enter the credentials you created on and prepare for uncut terror.

Are all of the features available on the website also available through the app?

In some cases we introduce new features on our website first and then make them available on our select device applications. We are always working to upgrade our member experience and to bring you the ultimate horror experience on all of our supported devices.

At Screambox we are working hard to bring you the best in horror with new film and TV content arriving weekly.
